  2. What is "inappropriate content" on the Internet?
    Inappropriate content means content which is bad for children. This includes sexually explicit images and texts, dangerous-how-to pages such as informing how to make bombs & how to commit suicide, repulsive websites carrying pictures of mutilated bodies, websites promoting cultural hatred, drug abuse, terrorism etc..
  3. Is there any annual license fee?
    No. Once purchased, GuardianConnect's core functionality and firmware upgrades are free for ever.

Technical

  1. How many computers can be connected to GuardianConnect?
    There is no limitation on how many computers can be connected to GuardianConnect, practically. There is no per-user license limitation either. GuardianConnect can handle up to 2 mbps of Internet traffic.
  2. Do I need to install any software on Desktop computers?
    No. GuardianConnect works in the network layer. This approach makes GuardianConnect more effective and secure compared to Desktop-based solutions.
  3. Will it work with my ISP?
    Yes. GuardianConnect is ISP-independent. It does all the job by itself to provide safe Internet.
  4. My LAN has a variety of operating systems such as MS Windows, Apple Mac OS X, and Linux. Can GuardianConnect protect all those computers?
    Yes. GuardianConnect works in the network layer. So it can protect any computer in the LAN irrespective of its operating system.
  5. What are the changes I need to make in my school LAN to use GuardianConnect?
    GuardianConnect can work in two modes:

    1. Gateway mode
    2. Bridge mode

    In Gateway mode, GuardianConnect will act as the Internet gateway for your LAN. In that case your ISP link and your LAN needs to be connected to the appropriate ports of GuardianConnect. In Gateway mode you can also avail of GuardianConnect's easy-to-use basic LAN management features.

    Bridge mode is similar to connecting a water meter. There is no need to make any changes in your existing LAN, in this mode. Just connect your ISP's modem/router to GuardianConnect (instead of connecting it to the LAN hub/switch) and connect the LAN port in GuardianConnect to the LAN hub/switch.
